So what exactly is wrong with "Word Faith"?
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Satan loves to question the Word of God and so create doubt in our minds as to it’s truthfulness. If Satan can get us to ignore or disbelieve the scriptures, he has won a signal battle.
With this in mind one can understand where the battle originates against “Word Faith”. I wonder – is there any other source of faith? If our faith “cometh” by hearing the Word of God; isn’t what we have received “Word Faith”?
In Luke’s gospel we read of a story Jesus told – about a poor man Lazarus who had died as well as the death of a rich man. Lazarus went to Paradise, the rich man to Hades. The rich man in torment requested that Lazarus return to the living to warn his brothers of the awful place he had ended up in. (Luke 16:29-31)
The answer was surprising – to paraphrase:
“Even a miraculous event would not convince them if they refused to believe the written Word of God.”
It is not experience that brings faith, but believing and meditating on the Word of God will. In other words – Word Faith!
I have heard and read many who badmouth the saints who preach and teach “Word Faith”. There is of course the possibility that there could be extremes and “add-ons” that go beyond what is clearly taught. But the fact still remains our faith is based solidly on the written Word of God; illuminated and revealed to us by the Holy Spirit.
Badmouthing the saints of God who hold these biblical views of faith is “playing the Devil’s advocate.” Why would we want to assist Satan in harming or even destroying fellow believers?
My advice is; stop helping Satan! Start reading and believing the Word of God and get some “Word Faith” and do damage to the kingdom of Satan. Don’t let your experience determine what the Word of God teaches; rather let the Word change your experience and bring it in line with the truth of the Lord’s Word. We must anchor our lives in the Word of God.
Don’t let some fallen human being tell you what is truth; allow the Holy Spirit to reveal and illuminate truth to your heart. We need our minds to be renewed as we meditate on the Word of God – changing us and bringing us into line with His will.
Let the Word of God dwell in you richly – then “faith cometh” – it will be “Word Faith” – it will line up with the written Word of God and accomplish great things.
